The Company. The Mindanao Institute of Sustainable Technologies (MIST), Inc. is a private start-up company that aims to work with farmers, rural communities, government entities, private businesses and development-oriented individuals in the pursuit of alternative agricultural, livelihood and rural development technologies that are highly effective yet affordable and creating the least negative impact on natural ecosystems and rural environments.

Our Vision. “Progressive rural communities enjoying increased productivity and improved livelihoods through the use of alternative sustainable technologies developed and introduced by the MIST.”
Our Mission. “To develop and popularize small to industrial scale innovative and sustainable supplies, equipment and methodologies; to build markets and provide technical support on these technologies, in order to increase efficiency and improve the competitive position of our clients, especially those operating in rural areas.”

Company Registration. The MIST is registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission with Company Registration Number CS201910313. The MIST is also registered with the BIR as a company with TIN No. 010-147-746-000.
Company Structure. The MIST is owned and managed by individuals who have high levels of integrity and professionalism and are highly respected in their fields of expertise and in the community.
Overall Management. The MIST was established in June 2018 by Mr. Jessie Ponce, who also acts as the President and CEO of the Company. Mr. Ponce is an international development expert who holds an MBA from Ateneo de Manila University and has been engaged by the UN, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and various international organizations in consulting engagements in various countries all over the world. Mr. Ponce is a native of Tupi, South Cotabato where he was bestowed the Most Outstanding Tupian Award in 2013.
Agricultural Research and Product Development. The MIST agricultural products are being developed under the leadership of Dean Mansueto D. Cuaton (ret.), former dean of the College of Agriculture of MSU – General Santos City campus. Dean Cuaton manages the MIST agricultural research facility in Bawing, General Santos City, assisted by a number of agricultural scientists and practitioners who have had previous training under UNEP, private agricultural corporations, as well as fellowships in other countries such as the US, Israel and Japan. The research team also maintains a network with relevant scientists and practitioners from the government, the academe and the private sector.
Sustainable sources of energy. Aside from bio-organic fertilizers and agricultural products, the MIST is currently undertaking product development in sustainable sources of energy, especially for rural areas. Leading the work in this sector is Mr. Shamgar Ponce, an Instrumentation & Control Engineer with vast experience with large engineering companies in the Philippines and other countries.
Finance. Company financial management is under the direction of Ms. Rose Lily Ponce-Gilbero, a corporate finance specialist who concurrently maintains finance consulting work with several international companies. Working with Ms. Gilbero is Ms. Esther Fe Ponce-Santillan, a licensed Agricultural Engineer and educator who serves as the Finance Controller for the MIST.
Legal. Internal company legal matters is under the oversight of Judge Joseph A. Palmes who sits as a member of the Board of Directors. Burkley & Aquino Law of Manila serves as the legal retainer for MIST.

Company Offices and Facilities. The MIST head office is located inside the premises of the Sweet Waters Garden Resort in Poblacion, Tupi, South Cotabato. A branch office and warehouse facility is maintained in Mabuhay, General Santos City. Agricultural research and development activities are undertaken at a MIST facility in Bawing, General Santos City. A 2-hectare production facility in Barangay Cebuano of Tupi is currently being developed.
